Tricuspid Valve Area by Deceleration Time (PHT)

Calculate
m/sec
Miral valve area: Infi cm²
MVA dt
Formula:MVA = 665 / DT

How to get Tricuspid Valve Area by Deceleration Time

  1. Obtain a PWD or a CWD of the tricuspid valve. The flow profile of the tricuspid valve will have a Vmax, typically the maximum velocity of the E wave. The time from the Vmax to the where the velocity is equal to zero is the deceleration time. Typically, the curve will have to be extrapolated to the zero velocity. The tricuspid valve area is equal to 655 divided by the deceleration time.
