How to calculate Isovolumic Relaxation Time.

  1. Obtain ME 3CV. In PWD mode, place the sample volume at the junction of the Left Ventricular Inflow (LVI) and Left Ventricular Outflow (LVO). The PWD flow profile will show an ejection flow profile and an inflow flow profile. The time between the LVI flow profile and the LVO flow profile is the time the ventricle is isovolumic relaxing. The time period of relaxation is related to diastolic dysfunction and LAP.
