The SAE Points are an indication of the difficulty of the exam. Each question is scored from 1-6 where 1 = easy and 6 = extremely difficult. The exams will be more difficult than CME Exams. While CME exams will test that you covered the material, Self Assessment Exams are intended to indicate that you have mastered and can clinically use the material.

Exam Description
This exam is a self assessment exam (no CME is awarded). The exam will cover the chapter Quantitative Doppler and Hemodynamic Assessment. The SAE Exam is almost completely weighted towards the quatitative assessment. Study the chapter and then take the exam. You can take the exam multiple times.

| The Exam is scored as a Percentage of Correct Answers and is shown with the Average Exam Score. |

| The Exam is also Scored by Categories. Each question is given a point value, depending upon the difficulty of the question. If you answer the question correctly, then you will receive all of the points in that Category. Your totals are compared to the group total. If you answer all of the easy questions correctly then your score would be lower than if you answered the same number of questions that were more difficult. The category scoring system will give you an idea that, even though you may get a smiliar number of questions correct when compared to the average examinee, are you missing the "easy questions" or the "more difficult questions". The scoring system is below: |

If you exit the exam, the exam will be automatically saved. To resume the exam, just enter the same SAE exam and if a saved exam exists, then it will be resumed at the point you left off. Also, when you log into e-echocardiography, all prior exams that you have passed or saved are listed. You will get SAE credit on the first sucessful completion of the SAE exam. You can take the exam as many times as you desire. |

The SAE exams are typically timed exams so the directions below do apply. |

If your exam is a timed exam, a timer will appear showing the total time left and, if your status bar is displayed, the exam time left will apprear there also.
If your exam is timed, you will have 60 seconds to answer the video question. If the video is set to be intermittent, the video will appear/disappear every 15 seconds. At the end of 60 seconds, you will be advanced to the next question. Therefore, for timed/video question, the Next Question and Previous Question and Grade Exam buttons will not appear, except for a Next Video Question button. Click on the Next Video Question button to go to the next timed video, however, you will lose the time you had left for that question.
At the bottom of the screen, a list of questions and your answers will be displayed. To go to a particular question, just click on the question number. If the question number does not appear as a link then you have either, not visited that question yet, or it is a video question in a timed exam. For timed, video questions, you cannot revisit the video questions. |
