CME Information

Description
e-Echocardiography was designed to enhance the competence of physicians, surgeons, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and persons who use echocardiography as part of their medical practice. This activity focuses on refining clinical echo exam skills, fostering the ability to recognize normal cardiac findings, abnormal pathology, and aid in comprehensive differential diagnosis.
These activities were developed due to the limited availability of formal echocardiographic training beyond early career phases and the ongoing need for echo-related procedural and diagnostic skill development, maintenance of certi#cation, and CME requirements.
Target Audience
This enduring material is intended for physicians, surgeons, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and persons who desire more information about echocardiography theory, principles, and interpretation.
Educational Objectives
At the conclusion of this accredited continuing education activity, the participant should be better able to:
  • 1. Accurately identify and describe normal echocardiographic findings as well as a spectrum of abnormal pathologies encountered in clinical practice.
  • 2. Demonstrate the ability to differentiate between normal variances in echocardiographic findings and common abnormal findings indicative of various cardiac conditions.
  • 3. Formulate comprehensive and accurate differential diagnoses based on echocardiographic exam findings.
  • 4. Provide accurate measurement of hemodynamic findings encountered during an echocardiographic exam, utilize alternative methods to obtain measurements, and develop the ability to identify and troubleshoot inconsistent findings.
  • 5. Effectively correlate echocardiographic findings with clinical presentations, enabling learners to make informed clinical decisions independently and collaboratively in the patient care setting.
